Selecting Travertine Flooring Popular in bathrooms, kitchens, and on floors and walls throughout the home, travertine can make any home feel like a beautiful Tuscan getaway. A form of limestone, this beautifully textured stone can be found in many countries around the world. Travertine is noted for its movement and often rich coloration, and can be used in a variety of settings, indoor and outdoor. Installation Considerations As a natural stone, every piece of travertine is different, so be sure to lay out your floor before final installation. This way, you can arrange the stones into aesthetically pleasing patterns. Each and every tile should have 100% contact with the mortar and sub-floor especially on all corners and edges. When installing travertine tiles 12" x 12" or larger on floors, it is critical that sub-floors are flat smooth and level. As with natural stone, we recommend sealing travertine with a suitable sealer. |
